Our rose society (Humboldt Rose Society - Eureka, Calif) maintain 3 rose garden. Botanical Garden, Redwood Areas and the church garden where we meet. Is there a tool that someone knows of (example: vac) that will pick up leaves and petals but not the bark (ground cover)?

Thanks

Try putting a remnant of a nylon stocking or some fiberglass window screen over the end of the hose on a shop vac. This will allow you to vacuum up the petals and leaves but not the bark or mulch.

edited to add: I've been using a shop vac for years for this purpose but it wasn't until recently that ATP member "pirl" gave me the brilliant suggestion of adding the nylon/mesh to the end of the hose...so the credit goes to her !
