First I must admit that I do not grow grapes. I do, however, love pretty things and saw these growing on a fence the other day. I have no idea what the varieties are so can't add them to the data base but want to share the pictures.

I just planted 4 grape vine cuttings that a friend gave me. I am excited to have grapes in the distant future. There is something so primal-Garden of Eden - about grapes.

Those grapes do indeed look beautiful, Paul! I had visions of my 6 vines (planted 2 years ago) looking something like that by now, but between our unusually harsh winter last year, and the deer and bunnies this spring, I'm almost back to square one. They must have some good root systems, though, because they are all pretty much back to the size they were by the end of last summer, despite having to grow back up from the bottom this year. Someday I will have my mini vineyard!! Hilarious!

The best table grapes do not do well in Utah. I tasted a few of these and they were sweet inside but the skins are tough and a little bitter.

Have sometimes thought about trying a vine. They grow well here, but I don't really have the structure to support one. Maybe one day. Smiling

Those pics of the grapes made my mouth water.
I want to plant some grapes here in Central Texas and hope to figure out which brand and timing might be best. I am hoping spring is a good time to plant. I remember my grandfather up in Michigan having those huge purple grapes over the patio, and picking and eating them right off the vine when we went to visit. Yummy.
