Growing wild, blooming now in zone 8, north central Florida. I had to use a magnifying glass to try to get a close up of the individual blooms. Growing in sand, in partial shade, oaks nearby.

Looks like a Vernonia to me, maybe Narrow Leaf Ironweed (Vernonia angustifolia).

Thank you both! That is exactly what it is. It stopped me in my tracks today, it was so pretty & bright. It is native to Florida so I'm very happy to see it.
