I scattered some poppy seeds last fall out front, but i never saw any sign of them coming up. They were double purple. Too many little snails out there to compete with.
Yeah, something killed two of my pansies by eating the main stem off. But I've got quite a few poppies, so things couldn't be too out of control.

I've been cleaning up oak tassels all day. they're smothering some of my little seedlings. I'll be so glad when the trees leaf out finally. I have oaks that leaf out at different times than others. I'm constantly cleaning up.
This is the first year I have had poppies. I put down enough that I realized it was someting I wanted when they started to grow and not a weed. Do you cut them down after they bloom and harvest the seeds?
I haven't saved the seeds...yet, but a lot of people do. Sometimes I wait and see if the plant might bloom later in the year if it's still alive...but they seldom do, so I probably SHOULD just cut them all down..

St. John's Wort has such pretty flowers...it's really an ornamental for me!
