Aww Mike I love that! I actually was going to do the same thing in dedication to my mom on the other rose I couldn't find the name of. Her name is Sofia. The interesting thing is, when I finally found the name of the rose ('Beverly'), another name of the rose is after the French actress Sophie Durant. I thought that was quite coincidental. Smiling

Matt ...

It is almost impossible for me to take a good photo of this rose because the morning sunlight is incredibly bright and in the afternoon, the blooms are usually fried even tho' the rose gets afternoon shade.

It was planted sometime between 1960 and 2004 ... it came with my house. It is the same color as the rose in your photos. I am only posting the photos to let you see how difficult it may be to identify your rose.

There are so many variables when a rose is grown in a different climate that this rose could be your rose or it may not be your rose.

Just food for thought.

Lyn

Thank you Lyn! That DOES look a lot like the one I have. Do you know the name of it?

This particular rose is obviously not my rose, but it is the EXACT same coloration; a mixture of dark red and fuschia.

No, I don't know the name of the rose. It came with the house. Actually, from the age of the plant and the other roses Mrs. J had planted in that bed and in a couple of other places on the property, the rose could have been bred long before the house was built. Two of the roses in that bed were bred in 1954, Queen Elizabeth and Tiffany.

I keep the rose because I love the color and bloom form and it is very, very fragrant. Also, because it is a survivor. Mrs, J's roses were deer-pruned for a couple of decades as she was in her 90s when I bought the house and she did not have any deer protection for them.

This is one of the few roses I cut for the vase and enjoy them inside because they fry too quickly outside.

Smiles,
Lyn

Quite beautiful and it's amazing how long roses can last! :D
