Mine havent bloomed yet but I heard offspring colors are mixed, but a chance you can get same color. I did it to try and get a new never before seen color.

bluegrassmom,
Gerber Daisy seeds have been very hard for me to germinate. I have collected seeds from the same plants and out of hundreds collected each time often I get no viable seeds. Then the next time I collect them I might get a couple of dozen that are viable. Look for the ones that have a swelled up seed that you can feel the "bump" those are normally the good ones. I did manage to get some to finally germinate, but I don't think I have ever had any to reach maturity before something destroyed them.

Wow, that is very poor odds. No wonder they are so pricey at the nurseries.

I think in a greenhouse commercial setting the odds are way better, so I don't think that explains the cost. I have recently found that my Gerber Daisy out by the mail box has finally increased, there are now three plants there after several years of only being one.

I have never tried harvesting the seeds. I purchased 2 Gerbers, they are both blooming, do I just wait until the bloom is dried up? LMK

Thanks,
Teresa

Yes wait until the bloom is dry, it will look like a grayish black ball and you'll see some seed below, gently cut off and seperate seeds indoors they are light and blow away easily. Good seed will be thick and white usually, browse around for guides on how to tell if seed is good.

Hi, Keith:

Would you like one of the moderators to change the title of this thread since all of the seeds are spoken for? We can leave the thread active for continuing discussion.

I did state it was closed but nobody asked for more, just discussing it so I think it's fine.
