There is a small thread under houseplants, but very little activity.

I recently expanded my collection from 2 varieties to 11, I think. I recently got 5 plants that look like only 4 different kinds by the leaves. I ordered some small plants on eBay too. I wanted to see how the gal ships them. They arrived beautifully.

Here are my original 2.

Pretty plant Linnea! All of mine died several years ago, so I moved onto succulents, but then some plant friends gave me other types of gesneriads so now I have 6 different types, but several of each type Whistling
Yours look healthy and happy! I tip my hat to you.

Wow, really nice! I especially love that Optimara Rhapsodie Anika, pretty leaves and gorgeous bloom! I haven't grown AV's in a few years ... so wish I had a better attention span but alas the older I get, the worse I get.

Forgot to mention, the Gesneriads forum is fairly new ... used to be folks discussed and shared info and photos of their Gessies on the houseplant forum.

Well, the Gessies needed their own forum!

I am an active Iris Forum gal, but they only bloom in June and are acquired in warm months only. Since I live in Maine, a Winter indoor plant is in order!

Outside, I have an Evergreen garden!

African violets are lovely for indoor, winter blooms. Episcias are mostly foliage plants to me, but they do bloom. Faded Jade blooms around Christmas for me every year, it's not generally regarded as a Christmas plant, but the colors are lovely and it's not a "throwaway" plant like pointsettias.

Do the Episcias root from leaves like African Violets do?

So much to do, so little time!
Just joined a few minutes ago and WHEW! am I glad to find African Violets!! I only have a few. Working on getting more, especially need some trailers!!!! Hurray! Love to see photos and am especially interested in varieties from 1950 to 1980. When I figure out how to make a list, I will be able to list my plants!

And I love Streps Lovey dubby also but don't have any. Have not had them for over 30 years! (shame on me!!)

I can't figure out how to make a want or have for trade list. Shrug! Any help? Sighing! I don't know where to ask. Thanks!! Thank You! ~~Rosie

Your 2 violets are beautiful! I had Optimara Anika but lost her when our furnace went out for several days this winter and it was only (brrrr) 35F to 45F for a little too long. Leaves & babies were damaged also. Sad

Love your Jet Trail! Very pretty! Thumbs up ~~Rosie

Hello Rosie and Welcome to ATP!! I'm originally from the east side of Detroit, so I know your area (downriver) Welcome!
In answer to your question - the way I know to do add a plant is by going to the database for the plant you are wanting to indicate that you have, or want, scroll down to a link on the left hand side of your screen, it is a little blue box which says 'add this plant' Click on the box then a window opens which says 'Status' above a window with 4 options - 'Choose from below', 'Have', 'want', and 'used to have' if you select 'have' there will be 2 options 'available for trade' or 'available for sale'
I hope this helps - let me know if you don't understand!
Cheers and enjoy this website! I've found it to be so much fun! I tip my hat to you.

Hi Greg and Thank You! for the info!!! It is so rare to find someone who knows where "downriver" is!!! I grew up in Wyandotte. I have lived in Monroe County since 1973 so I guess this is "home"!!!

I will try to make a list again. Again,,,, Thank You! Smiling
