If you're reading this, I'm thinking you want to learn more about your camera and how to take better pictures.

I'll try to do at least one section a week but no guarantees since I'm having to get the garden ready for Winter and all my tropicals ready for the greenhouses.

I urge all of you to first read Dave's post, Photography forum: Important: What this forum is for and what it's about

The thread "Important: What this forum is for and what it's about" in Photography Tips & Techniques forum

Here is what you should have sitting next to you as you read through the lessons:

Camera Manual
Camera

Please do not post anything in the sections that does not pertain to that particular section.

Also if someone wants to jump in and do a lesson feel free. Just please notify me so I don't spend time on the subject.

Just curious - why do we notify Anne before posting? And what is the difference between a "lesson" and just sharing of information? I may be a bit confused.

You don't really have to notify me but if I'm working on a lesson that involves macro and someone else is too, I'd rather not spend time working on it if someone else has already done it.

That's the only reason I put that there.

I define a Lesson as a tutorial on a specific function of the camera. Like the one I'm working on now which is about Focus.

But please! Jump in .. I'm not the last word on anything. I just volunteered.

Oh, gotcha. I'm more of a reactive rather than proactive poster, so hadn't given the time factor much thought. I look forward to your future informative threads.

I would ask though if someone else wants to "jump in" to please use the same format for the subject line so we can keep them all together and easy to find.

Don't worry about it. The point is moot .. pretty much everything has been covered so I really don't need to do any more.

After 8 years I have finally downloaded by Nikon D40 camera manual.
I can't believe in just the first 1/2 hour how much I learned. I didn't know I had a diopter, or even what that was. Do now. With my bad eyesight, what a difference this makes in what I see. Hurray!

Wow, Lynn -- how do you take such amazing photos if your eyesight is that bad? I'm supposed to be getting cataracts, although I can't tell myself -- hopefully that is what's wrong and your eyes are nearly ready to have them removed? I hope so -- I would go crazy, no questions asked, if I lost my eyes now! I do hope you have something fixable... Group hug

MR, I was born with these eyes the way they are. I've worn glasses since I was 2 years old. The original ones looked like some one had taken the bottoms from an old coke bottle and put them in frames.

Check you camera manual to find out where it diopter is. Have fun. Big Grin
