Good morning. 77F now with 70% humidity. All of my oak trees to the east and south keep the yard comfortable for the morning. Around noon, the sun will move beyond the trees and start heating things up. Conflicting forecasts from various weather folks. One says 99 by Friday, another says 93. There's hardly any breeze here which makes it miserable when working outside. Hope that improves. Did get out early (for me) yesterday and worked 4 hours in the "jungle" where there was absolutely no breeze. At least no mosquitoes either. That area still needs a few more days of work but I'll do that when the temperatures are a little more reasonable.
Susan - blank slate - what fun!
Hmm - perhaps DH is an anomaly as he needs his GPS or his personal "CPS" most of the time.

Cindy,
We are lucky to have a walnut tree on the east side of the house and one on the west. That saves us when the sun goes down, plus there is a treeline across the road that also keeps the lowest sun off of us.
Susan,
I'll be SO glad when you can move and get yourself settled. It' will be good for the soul!
Jmorth,
I am totally lacking any iron fillings. I get lost easy....

yeah, and maybe I'll stop bi***ing here, eh?
We spent the day in Torrington, with Bob turning the air blue - he was trying to re-build an old metal shed that he was one of three taking down, now he's by himself and not sure where everything goes and it's not "quite" fitting well..... ouch
We're going back tomorrow. I sit on the sidelines, mostly. I'm not much help, with my bum knees, but I'm there for moral support.

You vented. That's different.
I feel for Bob. Things like that are difficult to do alone. I hope he can take a deep breath and start again. Moral support means a lot.

@billyporter - yeah, venting is good, but geeze sometimes I feel like I go on and on and on and on....... kinda like the Energizer Bunny, y'know?
We're heading out to Torrington today - hopefully Bob can get the metal shed completed with help from Doug (our friend the other side of Olds). If he's home that is.
Cya all later! Have a GREAT day!

My friend from Olds-area gave me a Peony! It's in the earth, in a baggie. Doesn't even look like a plant, but she says it's in there....
I'll have to find a place for this baby Peony. Don't even know what colour it is.
She says to keep it in the fridge, until time to plant it

Susan,
That is so awesome! My SIL once gave me a bare root peony she had found in her garage. It sat there all winter with no dirt in zone 5a. I planted it and it bloomed in a year or two. They can put out a deep tap root so put it in a good place the first time. I found that out when one I moved grew back. It's still there, lol! They can be dug and moved. I had three I dug and each split naturally into at least three plants. They were very old and hadn't been moved, probably ever. All lived. Later I dug and shared the duplicates. I loved having 22 peonies, but eventually ran out of room, lol!

generally peonies do not like to be moved. I started one that I bought from a greenhouse, but didn't have much yard to put it in. Unfortunately the area I put it in didn't get much sun, and it was under an overhang...... it did not survive.

I never liked Peonies - not since I was 7 and saw all the ants on them...... right up close & personal. Grossed me out.
Now, I can hardly wait to grow 'em and see what they are
