Go get your bees. We got our first hive in May and really, really like having them. They were my husband's idea, but I like them well enough that I promised him that if/when we move back to the midwest, I'll put them in my hatchback car and bring them along. Our bees are super well behaved and generally not aggressive at all. We're beginners and I know we bother them a lot more than a normal bee keeper, but we have only had a few stings and most of them have been on accident. The first one was when we were opening the package of bees into the hive, one flew up and got caught in my hair, I got stung on the finger trying to convince her to climb into the grass. Another accidental sting was when one got stuck between my husband's sunglasses & his face.

We put a bunch of stone under & around the hive, but they don't bother us when we mow and we can walk right up there and watch them. They're really cool to have.
allons-y!
