Don't put bulbs in the refrigerator with apples. The apples produce ethylene gas, which will cause the bulb to abort its flower.

...when I read the title of this idea was that planting bulbs under apple trees, you run the risk of apples falling on your flowers and breaking them off! I could just see those pretty tulips all squashed!

But thank you, seriously, this is good to know. I knew ethylene gas helped ripen other fruit, but its effect on bulbs would never have occurred to me.

That wouldn't happen down here. LOL!!! Our tulips bloom in March & April and are burnt up by May.

Rolling on the floor laughing

Spring apples? You know, those ones left on there after winter?

I am totally just kidding, it was a silly idea.
