The list is published on their Twiki. Here are links to a printable version of the full Awards List, and the list on the AIS website list that has some photographs included. Too many on the list to copy all here, but I copied the first page below. Thought it might be fun to see which of the winners you have, and if you agree/disagree with the results. Smiling

I have a friend that takes into consideration the winners when buying irises for her garden. I wonder if everyone does that. Any comments?

I don't. Sometimes the judges have the same taste that I do -- sometimes not. That's OK -- they do the best they can!!! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

We have median winners, Rayos Adentro, plus Razzleberry Dressing, Limoda. & a few others. Have to have some of them as I am a judge. We don't grow many TBs, but see them in other gardens. Visit different gardens so I can vote.

I grow 13 from the total list, but, I don't really "hunt out" the award winners. I am starting to add to my collection of Dykes Medal winners, and probably will eventually add some of the "newer" ones....but so far I'm still working on the "old "ones.............Arlyn

I'm like Mary Ann, I get what I like, and sometimes they win awards, and sometimes they don't, but if I like them that's all that matters to me.

I've got 7 of all those listed.

Like Arlyn, I'm adding DM winners mainly to my historics... but I wouldn't say I'm focused on only doing that.. Too many that I just like and have to have... I might put a little weight on it when deciding if I have a couple of similar ones on the list I'm considering...

Mary Ann... just saw the hailstorms in Kentucky on the news.. Hope they missed you.

I am focusing on TB's, at least for now. I have 9 Award of Merit and 18 Honorable Mention...but they are all babies...still need to grow and multiply! Eventually I hope to add some of the other sizes/species...or whatever you call them, especially the SBD's and MBD's.

I buy what I like...but if I have not actually seen it in bloom then I have to rely on what others say about it, what the database says, whether it has fragrance, reblooms, or is a proven parent...etc. If it has awards I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that it is more apt to grow and bloom well. I also appreciate the notes some of the hybridizers include in the descriptions on the AIS wiki or in their catalogues.

Sapphire Jewel was difficult for us to grow. I don't know why it won the C-D. Sapphire Gem by a different hybridizer was better & we still have it. The smaller irises are more apt to get lost as since TBs are so popular many people have Dykes collections. A person in northern NH has almost all the MDB medal winners & has worked on the SDB ones.

I have started reading descriptions on how well stalks hold up and how many buds, and how late they bloom - then, if I like it, it goes on my want list. I dunno why I don't choose by awards, although I really like Dividing Line. Smiling

It is nice to see Redrock Princess got in as a runner up. I had high hopes for that beauty, but when I got home from vacation it's leaves were off the rhizome 2/3 gone. Sad
Plan to get again next year because she is a really nice median.

Have five from the awards list, but don't seek the winners out at all.
