Dear Carol, the last Goose fair I went to was last year in Chichester and it was great fun as they had traction engines powering the rides and the organ!
Nancy now I will remember your Birthday!

Neil, playing Trivia last night at our regular waterig hole, There was a question about some Duke of something. Got it wrong cause I have no idea but the name was Chatsworth??? or some such thing. Does that sound right? Any way it said they have a 105 acre garden. Have you ever seen it? Would that be something possible for PICTURES for us to see????????

wow - amazing the amount of trivia to be picked up here, re: UK traditions and days!
I'd forgotten that Michaelmas was Sept 29th.
Neil - please be sure to post some pics of the fair - I think it would be truly interesting. Do any of the fairs do "medival reinactments"? Whistling

Dear Cherie, it is a wonderful and most beautiful place it is better to look at this than me trying to tell you! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C...
It is the Duke of Devonshire home, and possibly one of the most glorious houses and gardens in England!
I have been there many times.
Regards and hugs.

Dear Nancy, at least you can tell a HOUSE from a Palace or a castle so that is a start! Rolling on the floor laughing Although Chatsworth is noted for its amazing art collection, stunning gardens and many other things, it is also held in esteem for its collection of 50 of the rarest antique clocks in the world! It can only be matched by Waddeson manor which has more and a few like the elephant clock is made from solid gold! It is a baby elephant with a clock inside it and everything moves, quite an amazing sight to behold. Chatsworth would blow anybody's mind if they saw it as it is just so stunningly beautiful it defies description. But it is only one of thousands over here, and I think Blenheim Palace can match it, amongst many others.
Cherie glad you got your answer and although beautiful you would not like to do the vacuuming in that place! Rolling on the floor laughing
Group hug

No Neil, I am quite sure I wouldn't. But then if I could afford to live there I could afford a household staff to do it FOR me.
