Thanks for the welcome. There are so many forums here I know I am missing out on some good plant chat! Glad to be here. I'll see if I can get her to send me a pic. Actually, I'd like to see how they are doing, myself. Here's the thread about her yard if you're interested.

As promised my DDs Rock Purslane. I know is not Ruby Tuesday. But I am pleased to see it has more than doubled in size since June and in a full on drought, no less!. How did your seeds do@LindaTX78?

Update: Reseeded and the best growing of all plants planted, a year later in the worst drought, once the snail problem was taken care of, that is!

How awesome! So the original plants didn't come back but seedlings did?

That interesting plants Cheryl. Smiling
Look like a cross of purslane and sempervivum lol.

Is it really desert plant which love heat and dry and hate too much water ? Or it can tolerate constant moisture like common garden soil too ?

Cheryl's looks like this plant:
Rock Purslane (Cistanthe grandiflora)

I have some too. They don't like coming inside for winter at my house, I can promise that much!

I am not sure if it reseeded or spread? I found some seeds and they are itty bitty. I can see how they are self sowing. It never went dormant in San Diego so it just grew and grew. I broke my rule about no new tender plants for 2016 and brought home some leaves to start. I don't have much sun so we'll see.

I read through this whole discussion again & realized that I didn't re-read enough before adding my last post to refresh my memory that you were talking about plants in your daughter's yard. Now I think I understand that you were saying the original plants are doing well & there are some seedlings too. Sorry if my confusion spread to others, my bad!

Next spring I'm putting some of this in a spot where it's high'n'dry to see if it can make it through winter. I'd love to add it to my list of plants I've bringing inside for winter unnecessarily (and be able to stop doing that.)

I just found this thread and I also found a local nursery that sold Purslane this spring and picked up a couple. It looks nothing like yours @ShadyGreenThumb
Mine just keeps spreading outward but beautiful vibrant blooms I'm hoping to collect seeds from.

Linda @LindaTX8, that Calandrinia umbelleta looks really interesting! Have you gotten and planted the seeds yet? How is it doing?

I grow that rock purslane, similar to the one Cheryl's DD has. I grow them in containers though, endures our hot and dry summer's nicely, our winters are mild so I just leave them outdoors year round. Bloomstalk starts appearing in mid to late Spring and once it is out, I just let it keep blooming and blooming all summer long. It does prefer the cooler air temps of late winter to spring.
I took cuttings this year in late Feb, and it grew fast as Spring came, giving it lots of sun, and very drought tolerant:

The marauding wildlife got the seedlings I got started. I'll try again, however...those look good! I've got to work on getting my yard more secure after wild hogs got in this year, as soon as my shoulder is completely healed. But will probably have to hire someone to replace part of the fence that was damaged. Wildlife reproduced a lot more over the last two years of "big rainy seasons", making certain species like hogs, raccoons and armadillos more problematic. Now we're probably entering a La Nina period, so no more of the rainy seasons for a while.
