Makes a nice fall display are they among perennials in your garden or do they have a place of their own? My question has to do with how do you keep them marked so you don't dig them when spring planting?
Ah, good question! And one I had to ponder when considering placement, and even called Brent and Becky's for advice. C. speciosum and C. sativum are in areas that are dry in summer because of tree roots, so not much will grow there anyway. Both are among small spring bulbs, and are in front of larger perennials in large mixed garden spots. C.medius is planted in a groundcover of woolly thyme, that hugs the ground and is completely flat.
Oh, and C. speciocum and C. medius are blooming without foliage. I believe one or both of them will have spring foliage, which will be a good reminder where they are.

Walked around our area to get Fall photos:
My garden is mostly succulents and drought tolerant plants...so Fall colors here for now is still green and greener on my side, still doing some last minute repotting:
I think the city trees are protecting my plants during the cold nights. Just do not want to dwell later on the reality that all of those leaves will be scattering soon in my little garden.
So taking my morning walk:
mushrooms
Boulevard divider continues to be amass with berries
So these are the trees that I always see from my window..but I always get only half of the shot..so now I can take a full shot:
City trees on my side of the road is still very green:
But it is so nice to walk on these shared pathways..mixed bag of trees in various Fall stages.
On the front side of our community, a nice patch of colorful annuals planted by our HOA gardeners:
Homes in my community have very small patches of garden frontage..but it is nice to see them with colorful blooms here and there, then some of the trees also finally starting to make their Fall transitions.
We are getting some rain tonight hopefully. More colors to come soon!

Thanks Mike! This Fall has been a real mild comfy one..no strong winds, and last night to early this morning we got our much needed liquid gold shower. Hope everyone in the cusp of cold chilly weather is staying warm and safe over there.
