Certainly a Bromeliad. I have no clue as to which one.

It certainly does remind me of the Neoregelias also. That was what sprang to mind when I saw your picture. Here is some general info for care and some interesting facts on the Neoregelias.

There's a lot of them, but surprisingly most do look different to each other. It's risky giving it a name.

I agree Janet. It is rather hard to pinpoint by pictures since sometimes the differences are so minute and can be a bit variable within a cultivar group
