Was given to me a few years ago as a Easter egg plant. Just wondering if anyone has more info on this one. I have a lot of fun with the grand kids with this one. Witch came first chicken or egg??

It's a type of Ornamental Gourd. Apparently, it's a variety that' been around since at least the 1800's and they used to serve as nest eggs (i.e. the artificial eggs that replaced real eggs in a nest to encourage the chicken to continue laying). Shrug!

It could be Solanum melongena var. Ovigerum which is edible, but may not be very palatable.

It's absolutely not a Solanum (eggplant). The leaves and the flowers are clearly those of a squash, or gourd in this case.

I found one on ebay listed as 'Cucurbita pepo var. ovifera'
http://www.ebay.com/itm/GOURD-...

Baker Creek list it as just C. pepo.
