Several popped up last week in a container, which has been in use for several years, so I know they are something I put in on purpose. Just wish I could remember what they are or why I did it.
Hilarious! Sticking tongue out Hilarious!

This foliage doesn't look similar to other leaves in that pot? Are you thinking it's a bulb like I am? Is this a pot you bring in for winter, or that lives outside all year?

The container has four Iris in it, stays outside all the time, and these bulby things popped up last week.

This photo you have in the database shows Iris 'Sparks Fly' in a container; could it possibly be that one?

I keep thinking it might be spiderwort but haven't been able to find a picture showing that kind of joint on an emerging plant. This picture from the database might help?

This is a different container and there are rhizomes of Immortality in it, Lin. The foliage is definitely not Iris, I dug one up to see the base and it looks like a bulb of some sort. Mamajack brought me a bunch of stuff a few months ago and I was tucking things in all over the place. So pretty sure I planted it, I just can't remember or figure out what I planted. (She doesn't recognize it, either. Sticking tongue out )

I'll be curious to hear what it turns out to be. It kinda, sorta reminds me of Allium seedlings too but my eyes aren't what they used to be, that's for sure. Green Grin!

Looks like some kind of bulb growth, for sure. Did you put any Dutch iris in the pot maybe? Doesn't seem quite the right time for them, but some are early and maybe they got tricked. What I can see reminds me of those in appearance. All the muscaris have popped up here, but unless you've got a new kind, this doesn't fit that. Do you remember if you had bulbs that would be waking up in the fall rather than waiting 'til spring? That might narrow it down.

That's what I was thinking, too. Perhaps it's a summer dormant, winter or very early spring blooming bulb. There was one winter-active bulb in particular that I was very interested in last year, but now I can't remember for the life of me what it was. Hilarious! Something that reminded me of an alstroemeria, I think. Shrug!

Donald, you may be right. I had several clumps of Dutch Iris that always put up foliage in the Fall. Still bloomed fine in Spring, but did that crazy stuff each and every year. Moved them some months back and could have easily stuck some pieces in this container. Will go Google Dutch Iris foliage and see if I can tell for sure. Thanks. Smiling

I don't think Dutch Iris make pseudobulbs? They grow from a 'normal' bulb which should be planted deeply.

It looks like an orchid, Bletilla striata has ribbed leaves and makes pseudobulbs but I'm not sure it matches that.

Janet, I can't think of any way an orchid would have made it into my yard, but thank you for providing those links. I tip my hat to you.

Bletilla striata is commonly sold by bulb companies here, it probably is in the US too.

As you said Mamajack brought you a lot of bulbs, could you check with her what she had on order at the time?

Sent the photographs to her first--she has no clue, either. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing She brought me some miscellaneous bulbs she had dug out of her yard. The foliage is staying tubular. Rubbed it and do not smell onion. Dug up one to photograph and I am leaning toward the Dutch Iris??

The images are failing to load at the moment, but that doesn't look like the same plant as in the first photo.
