I agree Thumbs up

I also like the cleaner, one-column layout on my cell phone!

Had to search a bit to find where to comment about this new homepage look, as I only follow a few forums (I just don't have time to be as involved as I would like).

I really like the word "New" on the new notations rather than the word "yes". Much more on-point.

Not a fan of the fancy script, though. For me it's a sexist thing. Looks way to girly for me. My initial gut reaction was to actually take offense! I realize it's a minor thing overall, so I guess I just need to get over myself! Rolling on the floor laughing I'll get used to it eventually (or at least learn to ignore it).

Much more importantly, and my motivation for commenting, is the new mobile version of the site.

I really, really like it!

I only occasionally view the site from my phone, partly because it was such a PIA with the full site view. The new mobile site works great on my Android, and gives me the straightforward access I need when accessing from my phone. I like having more content readily available when accessing from my laptop or desktop. But I need the simple interface on my phone.

Great job, Dave. I tip my hat to you. And thanks a lot! Hurray!

Thanks, Ron. It looks like a few people are finding good use from the mobile version.

I use an android phone, and @Jon has one, too, that he uses for ATP use more than he uses his laptop. His and my heavy use of the phone to access the site is what initially prompted me to make a mobile version. I recall being at a nursery last year, trying to access ATP from my phone to get information about a plant, and being a bit frustrated navigating a full size website on my little phone screen. That frustration is now a thing of the past.

I still have tweaks to do to improve it and that process will be ongoing.

Now as for the font used in the "New" indicator: that's the same font as our logo is made from. I think it's pretty but I agree that it can be out of place next to the regular text. I'll remake it sometime soon with a block font.

So far for me the new layout has been opposite. I use an iphone primarily. The new layout on the iphone is not good for me. I preferred the old way much better. Way less scrolling. I just zoomed in on the area I wanted to check out. Unless I'm at work I don't really use a laptop or desktop computer.

But, it really is not that big of a deal. Eventually I will get used to it and won't even remember the old way.

I just uploaded a big batch of changes in an effort to smoothen the mobile experience. I think you might find it improved now.

I am aware that many people prefer to access websites this way. I'm not sure if it's a minority or majority of mobile users, but I completely understand it. I'm this way with some sites (but not all.)

I have long-term plans to make it a preference option in your profile here, where you can turn off the mobile experience.

I added that just now. You will find the option in your preferences.

But I encourage you to try the site for a day or two with the mobile experience. I'm always improving it.

I wasn't going to grumble, but I like this new "New" much better, too! Generally, I like those scroll-y fonts, but it was hard to read and just looked somewhat out of place. Glad it was changed!
