IMHO, every plant I've ever known as Alocasia micholitziana 'Frydek' is in no way Alocasia 'amazonica'. The Frydek has bold white veins and distinctively velvety, dark green leaves, with no sign of red or reddish color anywhere on the plant. Petioles are pale green. It is not out of the question that some unscrupulous seller would mislabel one of the plants, though.
No amount of natural variation is going to make a true A. micholitziana 'Frydek' be another type of Alocasia 'amazonica', unless we are tossing out all criteria for determining what a species is. If we are doing that, then there is not much point at all in talking about "different" kinds of plants!
