They were purchased in St Louis from a shop called The Bug House which is situated next to Mobot (Missouri Botanical Gardens).
I believe they're based on a type of lattice design used by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
If I've time, I'll look for a shot of that store, lots of trellis' and neat stuff.

Thumb of 2017-05-29/jmorth/21c4f9 sail size fill out

I reread this thread before posting and noted the comment on trellis stabilization due to wind. When fully grown out, these pots could fall prey to the wind. They fill out so much they mimic a sail. To counter that problem, once the shoots are poked up and a ground cover added, I load the pots with heavy rocks, often non-hollow geodes or glacial erractics.
Sometimes I surround the base with double size red bricks (like the above pots sit on for drainage). Where I worked, the building was expanded, once the exterior bricks were up, the remainder (nearly a pallet's worth) were dumped in one of those large dump bins. When I got off the clock I retrieved them, loaded the SUV and took em home.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.

Tomato cages are pretty much hidden by foliage by now.

Can I keep control of this sweet potato on this tomato cage? IDK yet...

FWIW, the tomato cage was not big enough, it was a constant chore to keep the potato vines wrapped around it. The potatoes were delish though!

Arrowhead vine (Syngonium podophyllum) growing up a tree. I was going to take a cutting but the aerial roots are very attached.

An update on this arrowhead (Syngonium) & Philodendron erubescens combo.

Other vines on tomato cage trellises are having a rehabilitation year. Winter was hard on them (translation: I didn't water often enough) and there was too much naked stem look.

The pot that yielded all of the cuttings in the previous pics that are Monstera adansonii & Philo bipennifolium. I'm going to try to put as many of the cuttings back into this pot as possible. It did not look so 1-sided until some severe gusts of wind blasted through Thurs. evening and pushed everything to one side.

I managed to squeeze very few of the cuttings back into the above pot right after taking the 5/26 pic. Most went into a new, hanging one, with the smallest Coleus cuttings I've ever tried. I think all but one lived! These pics are the new pot today.

This Phil seems like it could get up & run away if it wanted to, growing so fast!

If you are set to jump to this post as the newest addition, I added a new pic to the post directly before.

This trio of vines is growing back after a radical trim in April. Monstera adansonii, a variegated Pothos, and Philodendron bipennifolium.

My purple hyacinth beans on my Mom's garden arch. I took Mom's arch after she died because none of my siblings had any room for it or the desire to fix it up. My Spousal Unit did a nice job making it steady again for me.
