Such quirky weather patterns..this time last year, my old home country being battered by that horrendous super typhoon Haiyan. Now it is on the flipside. Remnants of typhoon Nuri going to influence that ugly cold weather forecast.

I have learned something new (never too old! ). I never knew a hurricane/typhoon could just get to the arctic and sit there, bidding its time, and then grow again to come down as an arctic blast of super-cold weather.

Thanks for prompting me to look at a forecast. Our first frost is predicted for next Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Our "50% first frost date" was Oct 26!

Yes, always room for new things to learn...at least a lot of lead time to prepare for this major cold event.

Take care...hope everyone plans ahead and stay safe. I think we will not get much of that cold scenario, would be lucky to get some rain. High pressure blocking from the south so all the cold and rain stays up and over.

I've had some light frosts, but not a killing frost. Usually for me that falls on or about Halloween, so a bit late this year.

Texas is going to get it too. They are saying possible freeze in the beautiful hill country. And very cold in the city. Shiver.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been a little complacent about the weather. Last time I looked, we were staying in 40's, now there are a few nights of mid-thirties. Sure hope it doesn't freeze.

On Friday we spent the day at Epcot (last few days of the Food & Wine Festival); just perfect weather. Yesterday was great. Today, I was going to help out with a Garden's club tour of local gardens. It had to be cancelled. The temps dropped and it's raining. As they say in England - what "manky" weather.

LOL, if you southerners get snow, drive carefully!! (like, you can't stop on a dime when there's snow and ice on the road...)

All I know for sure is, I would hate to see our Florida relatives trying to drive up here with the snow and ice... (I'm pretty much white-knuckled riding with them down in Florida... )

Those FL folks who live on the west coast of Florida drive on sand, and it is the color of snow. They think it is all the same.

Watching the weather channel coverage....that's a lot of snow there already...drive safe and keep safe folks!

Have you ever driven down a road; and it was really sunny -- but on the other side of the road it was raining? Not a major 6 lane highway; just a two lane road. Swear to you - up and down it's true. I've experienced this twice (and a lot of FL friends have also). Absolutely weird.

It has to start somewhere...I get this often in my house - rain on one side but not the other.
