and now i know. i have a mexican ponytail palm, which i sort of neglected successfully for 15 smth years ;).
can we see the large pic too? of the whole plant?
i have never seen them bloom.

Here is a picture of another Ponytail Palm. It is the best one I have of a whole tree. There are others in the database.

For some reason the Ponytails in this area have all been blooming profusely the past two years; before that it had been quite a few years since I had seen one bloom.
