I went for a visit in Bakersfield and saw some great containers that they used in the mobilehome there. Most of the containers were water tanks. The kind that cattle drink out of in the fields. They had painted most of them a moss green or dark green color. One trailer had a queen palm planted in one of them. I saw roses, small trees and just flowers planted in them. I'll have to check into the cost of one or two for my mini-roses. I will try to post a picture of one when my son gets home and shows me how to get the picture from my phone to his computer.

Look for those tanks on sale, or see if you can find someone who has one or two that are leaking. They are just a bit expensive to buy new. That's what I have my strawberries planted in.

Never buy new if you can buy it at bargain price used.
I went to Goodwill and some yard sales today. I feel like I hit the jackpot. I'll take photos later after I get cooled down.

If I was in KY I could find them tanks all over the place, here in Ventura, I'm going to be on a hunt for them. I may travel out to Fillmore and check out the local stable out there and see what they have. Also going to check out the Simi Valley Swap Meet. (Flea Market)

And don't forget, they make shorter tanks for sheep and goats, too. That's how I got mine; we have goats and they didn't like drinking out of the plastic water tank (picky, picky, picky!) so DH gave it to me for a planter. So look around for sheep farmers, too!

The ones I saw where metal. They said they drilled holes in the bottoms.

Yes, there are tall metal ones for horses and cattle, and short metal ones for goats and sheep. We had to replace our plastic one (given to us by a neighbor) with a metal one 'cause the plastic seemed to get green really fast and the goats didn't like it. Ha, ha, probably why the neighbor gave it to us!

Living in a suburb I would never have seen anything like a water container for animals. I will keep an eye out for one.

I have pictures but for now am on son's computer and don't know how to post pictures from my phone to his computer. Will check with him tonight.
