I know we're generally spoiled rotten with regards to site speed, but the last two days or so the site seems pretty slow. The logo and micro-badges especially flicker for quite some time before they settle in. Has anything changed? I've checked my ISP and everything seems to be okay, I'm even operating on high-speed at the moment. Any ideas?

I've noticed a couple of delays here and on Cubits, but I haven't seen any flickering.

I noticed that the site got a lot slower since Dave installed the security system, but I thought it was just me.
No flickering here, just slow. Smiling

We were wondering if the talk about net neutrality the other day had something to do with the intermittent "hanging" of pages lately ( also other than ATP) and then flying in. I connected my husband's IMac yesterday to my iPad Hot spot and that worked just fine. Also, just using LTE seems to work better at times, especially on a weekend morning, around here.

I always empty my cache and clear my browser history, if there's some kind of issue like this; often that's where the problem lies.

Hmmm...this I did do, but it hasn't helped. I'm also getting intermittent black areas at the other site, but only in my DB area. They show up, flicker and hold, then disappear. Weird.

Confused

I've been having weird stuff with my emails today. Maybe it is something net wide, I haven't a clue. Servers and routers and nodes and whatnot, sometimes things happen. Shrug!

I can't really think of why you'd get the behavior you're describing. Flickering graphics should not happen. And black spaces on the page? I can't even begin to think of what can cause that.

I'll continue to see what I can find but until I am able to see this behavior for myself, it's going to be hard to pin down the cause of the problem.

It takes almost a minute for ATP to come up for me and when it does, it's slow for me as well. Not having those issues with other websites.

I haven't had any problem at all, on my desktop, phone, or kindle tablet... And I check into ATP about 100 times a day Hilarious! No issues on cubits, either.

Victory!

I only managed to get a tiny bit of it, but I feel extremely lucky to have done so as it doesn't hang around for much longer than a nano-second. It's interesting trying to scroll while doing so through a viewfinder. Hilarious!

It seems to be slower downloading images and leaves some blank. Although I do live across the Atlantic. So I upped my iMac from 4GB of RAM to 16GB. I use it in our nighttime here so there seems to be the odd problem, but most of the time at 03:30 am it is OK. It is not very good during the peak periods and I have fast broadband.
Plus Firefox keeps cutting out and says try again for security reasons. You can get the post back you are writing, but it does take its time.
Time for a wee dram, and wait.
Regards.
Neil.

More possible leads when you're ready for them Dave. Smiling

For some reason, every time I get one of these download links showing I also get other strange occurrences.

Thumb of 2014-11-19/chelle/473e88

I did a right-click copy of the link location. I can't recall if this is what you need to track it down, but here it is.

I remember handling telephone support for our PC-controlled printing and material-handling equipment for one company.

The error messages were dire and clearly something major had been destroyed, for example by a lightning strike. I could tell that there was something the official upper-ups were trying to conceal, probably so they would not have to pay for repairs.

I finally got them to hand the phone around to the low-level workers who actually USED the machine, and got my answer from a janitor.

"Ummm - I pushed my broom UNDER the machine and I guess it tangled in some cables. When I tugged it back out, there was a big flash and I saw sparks coming out from underneath. Does that mean anything?"

Some symptoms are relevant and others may not be, but more information is usually more helpful than less.
