I don't feel like I really 'own' a plant until I get it on my list here. Once I do that and take a pic, I can get rid of the tags. And if I get confused, somebody is always available and able to help me find the right entry, or research if needed if it doesn't seem to have an entry yet. Like having a personal plant valet.

This is the best-administrated site I've ever used, and puts such a friendly vibe on visitors, I've never seen a hint of drama here. I tell gardeners to check it out all the time, and I check what's going on here every day I get on the computer (which sometimes excludes weekends.)

Glad you're here, Alex!

I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth and say I agree this is a wonderful site. I found it while researching (the number one use of my computer) how to start daylilies. I wondered if it was worth buying them on ebay and starting them myself. The daylily forum here is WONDERFUL as are all the rest. Everyone is helpful without being critical of each other's suggestions which is helpful and encouraging because you can get several options to solve the problem. Also I'm just staring my fifth complete landscaping garden in 42 years of marriage in another completely different climate with an absolute blank slate, so it will be helpful to keep track of what works and what doesn't. No more notebooks and graph paper! Hurray! And it was nice to be welcomed when I signed up and encouraged to enjoy everything the site had to offer. Now my husband (who pays for the plants) and my youngest sister (who helps me tremendously in making the gardens and all the hard work) might not agree but why start listening to them now? Thanks again for sharing and maintaining this great site! I tip my hat to you. Thank You!

Welcome! Pat

There is not only a wealth of information to be found on ATP, we truly do have a great bunch of friendly contributors. If one grows/propagates plants, or even just wants to, this is the site for him/her.

Check out my website (though I don't grow daylilies).

Now its time for you to pick your first micro-badge. Here's enough acorns to get you started.

Yes, a super nice site!! Like one big happy family, Someone once told me, any person who tenderly took care of their plants , and admired all the beautiful flowers God created, had to be a nice person, and more than likely treated people as tenderly as well! I thought that was interesting, and yes it sure fits all of you . Everyone I've chatted with so far, have been awesome! May God bless you all with a Happy Thanksgiving

@dragonfetti don't worry about starting your daylily mad... I mean addic... I mean insan.. I mean passion for daylilies on ebay. We all start somewhere but it's how we end up is what makes it so exciting. You'll find out what flower form you like, what hybridizers, dips or tets, and anything in between. Welcome!

Decades ago, I realized that if I gave my plants everything they needed, and most of what they wanted, they would thrive and also make me happy.

Decades after that, I figured out that the same principle applies to people in relationships.

I just found this thread and I totally agree with all that's been said about this wonderful site. I'm a late bloomer when it comes to the world wide web. The other site (which I joined in 2006) was my very first venture with chatting and visiting with folks on-line. I enjoyed DG for awhile but became a bit frustrated when I'd see the bickering and downright nastiness between some members so I frequented it less and less. Then came ATP's sister site www.cubits.org which I joined right away and found so many more friends and subjects to chat about. It is a wonderful site, but with so many different cubits it was a bit daunting and it got so I couldn't keep up with all of them. Once Dave created All Things Plants this is where I came and stayed. Oh, I did sign up on FaceBook a couple of years ago which was a new experience too and I do post on there quite often but for the most part when I'm on line, it's here at ATP. It truly is joyful visiting the different forums/threads here on All Things Plants and learning from so many wonderful gardening friends! Lovey dubby

And @dragonfettii don't forget to watch our Classifieds Forum: http://garden.org/forums/view/... for Daylily sales offered by our members!

The tone of that other site made me run! Not friendly at all. The only thing I still view there is the section on vendor ratings.
