We have a voracious Chinese Wisteria, and sometimes it gets ahead of us. Suddenly it makes an appearance in our Juniper border 20' away, and here's how we safely deal with it. A variation of this technique can be used on Ailanthus.

This was the method we employed when hired to get rid of poison ivy that was growing among the desirable plantings. It takes a while to work and does require monitoring, but it is very effective. Thanks for helping to spread the word and not the weeds! Thumbs up

Thanks, there is some local PI I will try this on. With the home owners permission of coarse. They have a hedge row where it has reached the height required to flower and setting fruit. If I'm careful I may not contract a dose. On our own property and the one adjacent, I usually just use Ortho PI and woody vine, but using this method may just reach it all. At present the birds eat the berries and spread them. Treating it during the early spring may not effect the birds and still rid us of at least one source. The home owner is a horticulturist and should be amiable to this. I try to please the birds as much as possible, allowing Polk berry and Mullen's to fruit in out of the way places, but PI, I have no tolerance for.

We also had the cooperation of the landowner; they agreed that this was the best option.
