I would love to hear from those of you with more experience growing irises... Which cultivars produce consistently high bud counts.. And which, if any, have been consistently low. This is one of the things I consider when choosing new irises because I hope to experiment with hybridizing and want to start with good flower producers. Smiling

This was the first year that I actually thought about bud count on Iris after speaking with Rick Tasco when placing an order. One that I did notice was Sharlee, an older Iris, which had a bud count of 7 on most stalks. Rick had told me that was good. 9 even better of course.
