That was the first time I saw such a bug. It was coming in to the open yard from outside. Which could this be? Notice its legs. It probably has wings hidden by the hard two-part shell that opens out.

This is a beetle which lives and breeds in water Dinu, when they want to spread their eggs around other water holes they climb out and fly.

I would say it's in the family Hydrophilidae but there are a lot of them.

Many thanks for the clue, JRB... I did not what to do with it. I left it out in a plant bed. Does it survive there? A day later I saw a smaller one too coming to our open yard. I did the same.
Here is another image.

They have wings and can fly Dinu so they will get where they want to be. The second one still had some water on the end of it's body!

Do you have a pond? That may be it's destination.

Ah, JR, good guess. Yes, I do have a pond and that had come in 40 feet away from the pond. I too noticed some wetness on its body.
