This is not an earth shaking problem but it makes me curious......I have added a multi-plant photo of a group of African Violets twice and it has disappeared. Wondering why Confused

It isn't really a multi-plant photo. It's a photo of several unidentified African Violets. Unless you identify some of the different African Violets in the photo, the photo belongs on the generic Saintpaulia page as a regular image, not a multi-plant image. I see at least three of your photos of the same grouping of African Violets on the generic page. That particular photo must be one of them.

It's a shame that the different plants in the carousel photo weren't tagged, but it is technically a multi-plant photo because I see chrysanthemums, roses, and petunias in the photo. It appears that there are several other plants as well, although I can't identify them without a closer view.

I wondered about the carousel, too. If the plants used in the photo were tagged that would be just fine.

We already have so many untagged multi-plant photos that it would be unfair to single that one out for that reason.

Back to my original question....I guess mine was deleted by someone twice because it wasn't acceptable. I will consider that before posting anything in the future and will delete my pictures that are not labeled correctly.

It wasn't deleted, Paul. When I saw that it wasn't a multi-plant photo, I tried to move it from the multi-plants area to the generic Saintpaulia page and received a message that it was already on the Saintpaulia page. It then reappeared as a multi-plant photo (I guess you resubmitted it) and the same thing happened again.

Hi Paul,
We love your M-P photos...well...all your photos. Duplicates are usually deleted, at least when we catch them. If you have some tags to add to the pic let me know and I'll help with adding them. It's a good winter project!!

It's true that we love your photos, Paul, everyone does. The admins have been tasked with keeping things tidy and orderly and in the past I've asked them to please move photos out of the Multi-Plant area and into the database when it's appropriate. I agree with zuzu here that the photos she moved should have been moved.

Keep in mind: moving a photo just puts it in the right place. It doesn't delete it. The photo is still on the site and still can be commented on and seen. It's just in a different area.

All of the above may be true, but a simple tree mail to Paul explaining what was done with his picture and why would seem to be the polite thing to do.

The photo owner does receive a message when his or her photo is moved to a different entry. In this case, when the attempt was made to move the photo to the generic page, no message was sent because the system recognized the multi-plant photo as a duplicate of a photo that was already on the generic Saintpaulia page.
