Hi,
Someone brought it to my attention that this cubit was started and I had started a peonie cubit so I disabled mine. I started one because I am venturing into peonies for wholesale production later this year and early next Spring so I wanted a place to learn and gather info and other peonie lovers.

Can we discuss propagationa nd production here too?

Hope to meet lots of peonie growers.

Thanks,
Susan

Hi Susan, and welcome to the Wonderful World of Peonies. I see no reason why we can't discuss propagation and production. However, I'm probably not the person to talk about that. All I do is collect and plant! Smiling LOL

Most certainly we can discuss propagation and anything else you'd like. I am just starting on the peony area, so any suggestions are welcomed. Nice to see you Susan.

Thanks Ticker and Magnolia.

Maybe we can have a forum for propagation and vendor/growers to buy roots from. I have a floriculture cubit started and hope peonie will be abig part of it. I want to raise them for floral designers like my niece in MA who is one of the most popular and successful bridal only floral designers in that area. She is beggin me to grow them just for this purpose. I am moving back to MA which is my home state, in August.

Thank you for welcoming me in.

It sounds like a nice adventure you are embarking upon. There is nothing quite like a handful of fresh cut peony stems. Mmmmm.

The South Shore consists of all the towns between Plymouth , MA North to Quincy MA which is 2 towns from Boston. From Plymouth South is considered Cape Cod.

Massachusetts Geography lesson will continue in my new cubit, Massachusetts a great place to pahk the cah.

Of course western MA is whole different world and no one does r-dropping like Boston. The old timers sound more downeast (Maine).

Oh, you're a tropical paradise compared to me. I'm Zone 5a and just barely that. Smiling Spring will get to you faster than it will to me. Did you get buried in snow last week - weekend? We're supposed to get between 6 and 8 inches here between yesterday and late Tuesday night. The amount isn't the problem, the problem will be when the winds kick in tomorrow at 25 to 35 mph and we have white out conditions and drifting. That will be a problem. LOL

ARGH! I'm 5a but some winters I'm 4 in the same state, Susan. So I'm with you Ticker.

I was surprised when I met a gentlman on Cape Cod who owns a holly farm, when he told me he was zone 7. I had no idea but I was pleasantly surprised. The close I can be to the coast the higher the zone will be.

I will be getting a commercial greenhouse and will have to keep it chock full of flats and plants to make the heating cost pay off. I can't wait to move!
