It goes straight down the middle where the pots join. It is a 1" hole.

It's a strange setting that the drainage hole at center is higher than the bottom of the indi pots. How to drain out the water at the bottom of indi pots? My guess: this is a no-drainage hole thing?

The reservoir at the bottom is only 1 /8" or so, in which i can put a little gravel to lessen the water. Is that size pot ok for AV, or should i put something in the bottoms and sides? I dont have to use them for AV at all, as i got them for strawberries.

Optimara African Violets are typically carried at Lowe's. There are a number of sellers who come up quickly if you put 'buy african violets' in a search engine. There are sellers on eBay. Hirt's Gardens sells some Optimara's. And, you can buy Optimara's at http://www.selectivegardener.c...

I have an AV leaf that I got from a friend's plant. I started it in water, and it grew roots about 2 inches long before I put it in dirt. Now I have it in a pot, does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to care for it while it's still establishing itself? I'm kind of new to this.
Thanks.

Welcome! Good bright light but not direct sunlight at mid-day. Water when dry with a very dilute water based fertilizer. Watch it grow.

I wick most of my African violets and use these clear acrylic reservoirs for my minis and semis. Wicking is low maintenance and with the clear reservoirs you can see when it needs to be refilled.

@chiquib313
this is the most beautiful set-up i've seen so far - and it's quite easy to do. and very modern too! i think i want to set-up one of my windows like that!
thank you for posting!
i wick my violets and i use plastic water tumblers that i get cheap at the end of summer. but these square jewel boxes beat the tumblers!
Thumb of 2015-04-22/skylark/194a78
my older violets get quite big after sev years, so they don't fit into tumblers. i put them in orchid cachpot then for display. it gives a nice height and looks like a vase.

How do you keep your violet continuously blooming or is there a rest cycle between bloom periods?

Mine always bloom and then take a rest period before blooming again. I bought several in full bloom in Jan. As the bloom faded I cut it off. They are all coming into bloom again. I'll try and take a picture later,

My guess is over watering, poor drainage..........rotten roots.
