Hi, munozk...

I'm sure there are plenty of helpful people on the site. I imagine quite a few folks are dealing with holiday business and the like. :>)

As for your purple streaks on the peppers, no worries, that is perfectly normal and they are still good to eat. Those streaks can kick in due to weather extremes, high sun exposure, and/or temperature. Rest assured the pepper is doing what it's supposed to be doing, either maturing or is fully matured. Yellow and golden peppers, especially banana types, were bred over the years to be those colors, not their normal color of purple or red. Personally, I like a more colorful pepper as it will be higher in anthocyanins than the paler ones.

Best,
Shoe

Concur: the purple streaking is normal exacerbated by stress. Banana peppers do turn red when ripe, but are normally used when yellow.

Beautiful peppers, Dill! I can taste those red ones as I type! Sweet and delicious. Hope all is well down your way.

I've seen information regarding purple streaks on peppers but this brownish streak has recently appeared on my largest pepper. Is this a sign of a bigger problem?

Nothing to worry about: some Banana pepper cultivars can develop a bit of brown streaking or an orange tinge when they are ripe. In fact I think yours is about ready to be picked.

Concur: Your Banana pepper is going through its first color change and it is a some what uneven process. It will be a bright red when ripe with yellow and orange as intermediate colors. Banana Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Sweet Banana') There are several varieties of Banana pepper some no heat some mildly hot but the growth process is similar for all of them. Wax Pepper (Capsicum 'Hot Sunset') Sweet Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Banana Supreme')
