Im kinda in the same boat as mj. A fair amount of mush.
I shall pass on some good news tho. About 20 minutes ago, there were robins...robins, and more robins.
Things are looking up. nodding

Pam we've had Robins here also for the last week or so. And the 10 forecast looks much better, although looks like me might get a good bit of rain next week.

I had lessons to teach this morning. My toes are still cold. I did open up the greenhouse to let some fresh air in. Thankfully temps held at a low of 50º during the coldest part of this morning.
God gave us wings. He just called them horses

The front door of my "Everything Else" GH is covered with a solar blanket flap, and I had to break the ice off that flap to get into the GH this morning.

Yep, two electric heaters (in each GH), plus the LP heater in one. I take no chances! Whistling

It doesn't matter @Ursula, and with all your beauties can share with us in Florida anytime you like! Welcome!

We did somehow dodge a bullet last night. Some things in certain micro-climate areas did get burned, but not to death Thank God! I'm always surprised at how that works.
One single giant Crinum Lily got burned but the center new leaves are OK; but 10 others were not touched.
My Lychee Tree is in bud behind the little greenhouse came through and even my large Hibiscus schizopetalus near it. (usually very cold intolerant)
Only one of my Brugs got tipped and the other 8 went unscathed?

It really is all about location, location, location I suppose..., and will be thinking more and more along those lines. Smiling

We left here @ 7:30 this morning to head south to Sebastian to visit family and we just now got back home. I didn't have a chance to get out in the yard this morning to check and see how the plants fared but my husband just came in and said that the wind had blown the blanket off of the Banana Leaf Ficus tree and it's showing cold damage ... but I think it will be okay. Last night I didn't bring in the Rhipsalis or Hoyas that are hanging in the trees so they may have been hit by the cold temps too ... I sure hope that's it for our cold this winter this year! I don't think it's supposed to be as cold tonight thank goodness and the temp's are supposed to be back to near 80º on Sunday.

I think I'm odd man out here. I do NOT relish the thought of 80. Nope. I want winter to last longer. I like it! I do NOT want the sweating season to begin. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not really *against* 80 degrees except that it means the heat is breathing down our necks & that is something I detest.

I would be more than content if we didn't see 80 degrees for 2 months yet.

I agree Lin. It's the humidity that makes it uncomfortable. I can work in the garden at my kids' houses in Salt Lake in well over 90deg. and not get overheated.

Don't worry, Ann. We've got lots of nice weather coming up before it gets too hot. Breezes will be cooler, humidity lower and the evenings will cool off nicely until May-ish. At least most of the time.

Yeah, the heat doesn't bother me a bit but the humidity takes it's toll more and more with each passing year.

I'm with Ann and I'm a native! I'm not ready for 80 quite yet. Just give me a little longer!

I spent most of the day in bed because it just isn't civilized to go out when it's this cold. My phone said it got down to 29 right around sunrise. I haven't surveyed the yard but I did poke my head out. The Brug actually looked okay, but all my Spanish Needles got toasted! I know they're a weed to most people, but the butterflies love them so I usually let them go during the winter since I don't have a lot of nectar plants right now. I'll do a full survey tomorrow and see how things fared. We did cover quite a few plants, so the ones that are really important (my host plants, especially) are fine.

So looking forward to getting hours of yard work in tomorrow. Spring will be here before we know it & I have so much left to do to prepare.

Me too. And I have for weeks been trying to get someone to cut down a couple of lanky ailing palms and there just is no way I can get someone this time of year. It means I can't really do anything until they're done. Thumbs down

If you aren't looking forward to just 80s....how ever did you end up in FL??? It's more often in the 80s and hotter here than not!!! And that's one of the main reasons I live here! Yay, heat! Hurray! Big Grin
