Nice pictures there, David. Your ground orchid is an Epidendrum, and what a pretty color. The most common one is Epi radicans but I think that one has bright orange flowers.
I'm with you on leaving the frost cloth in place, Jean. It's honking outside here too, and while it's nice in the sun IF you can get out of the wind, it's still very darned cold. I need to go over to the school garden and repair the sprinkling system Brrr!!
We have an abandoned house across the street from us with a lovely red powderpuff bush that is the only nice thing left in that yard. It's ready to burst into bloom. This is usually a signal that the bank will send in the once-a-year landscape cleanup crew, and they will prune it until there are no blooming branches left . . .
We hope to one day be able to buy that property and rehab the house (and garden
) but that's not happening any time soon!
