Hi, Fiat. I love camellias! You'll find camellia lovers in this forum, the Pacific Northwest Gardening Forum, the Trees and Shrubs Forum, the Shade Gardening Forum, and probably some others.

Camellia MonDel is Monrovia's Pink-A-Boo Camellia. Monrovia doesn't do mail-order, but it does supply lots of local nurseries with plants. The Monrovia site suggests the following nurseries for your location. Just scroll down in this link:

Thanks, Sue & Zuzu. I'll check up with the Westurf Nursery for the Pink-A-Boo Camellia. Meanwhile, I wonder if anyone has grown a Camellia in a pot? I had received a big ceramic pot 18" (top width) x 18" (height) and I plan to plant the MonDel in it (in my small patio area). I assume it will be a outside plant all year round (so far, I have 44 houseplants in my small home. The Camellia will be my first outside plant except some old jade plants). Is it even a NO, NO? Thanks for advice.

According to Monrovia, it grows well in a container, but it will eventually grow to 8-10 feet tall and wide. You'll have to move it into a larger container after a few years, I suspect.

Thanks, Zuzu. Can we prune it every year to prevent from over or fast growing? And I assume it can stay outside all year round, even in our winter (rain and cold)?

You can, but you'd also have to prune the roots, I suspect. That sounds difficult, I know, but I've known people who remove their potted plants from the pots every year or so, prune the roots, and then put the plants back in the pots.

I forgot this is the thread: "What's Blooming in January" I have two Amaryllis blooming: 1. the 'Blossom Peacock' (early Jan and fading now), 2. the 'Celebration' (blooming now).

Ooo.. These are indoor plants and this is Pacific Coast "Gardening" forum! Sorry.

Are you kidding? They're a big deal!

Do you know how to do it? Click on the photo to enlarge it, click on import to database, write the name of the plant in the space provided (Amaryllis Blossom Peacock), choose the appropriate item from the results shown, choose the gallery (bloom), and submit the proposal. Before you submit the proposal, you can also provide the location, write a caption, if you wish, and choose a license (most of us choose All rights reserved).

Ok, done. But I didn't get chance to provide location, caption or choose license b4 submitting proposal. I don't know why?

Oh, that's right. You don't get to do that when you import photos, but you can go back and add those things. Just go to the photo in the database, click to enlarge it, scroll down, and click on "Edit this image's caption, details, etc."

Ok, assuming that can be done after the photos are approved?

Yes, it can be done anytime after the import has been approved. I approved them some time ago. You should have received two personal messages to say that they had been approved and that you were awarded an acorn for each one. Go to the home page and check for personal messages. If you've already looked at them, you can access them again from your profile page. You can click on the photos in those messages to get to them right away.

Thanks, Zuzu. Details added.

Tarev, It's certainly worth the long wait. Now a new wait begins -- the Samba! One thing I have been wondering for a while that looking in the Data base I found Peacock's bloom photos from other growers all show much more vibrant colors (especially deeper pink tone). Could it be that they all grow in soil instead of water as mine? Or more amount of sunlight received?

Hi Fiat, maybe a combination of factors. We all have varied home environments or growing conditions.
