Dave - Great idea!

So how does this link work? Cut and paste it on our private blogs or in emails to invite our friends? How long does this membership drive run with the potential to earn acorns?

I found it in my profile and clicked on it to see what would happen. I see it takes me right to the ATP home page. How can you tell that it is someone one of us referred to ATP who may "later" decide to sign up. What if they don't sign up when they click the link, but instead take a day or more to decide?

You know me .... always curious to know the details.

So we get 10 acorns? What if we split them with any newbies we get to join to further entice them?

Becky, the reason you were taken to the home page is because you were signed in and the site recognized you. If a non-member or someone who is not signed in uses your link they will see this page.

Thumb of 2015-01-04/Horntoad/d508a0

If you look at the link you will see your screen name is part of the code, that is how Dave will no that you sent them. If they decide to come back later, it will depend on how they return to the site. If they just type in allthingsplants.com, then you will not get credit, but if they bookmark it on their first visit, then they are bookmarking you link and you will still get credit.

Thanks to both of you!

So we just cut and paste the link, correct? Most of my friends procrastinate about joining anything. LOL! I've never understood their perspective. Maybe they just aren't as interested in plants as I am. Probably because most are birders, not so much gardeners. Sad Hilarious!

Then send them a link to the Birds and Bees and Butterfly forum too. Wouldn't hurt.

Right, I just copy and paste.

@dave my link:
http://garden.org/users/join/w...
just gives my friend the same message I get when I click onto it which is the message I see

This page is a place where new members can sign up, referred by you (webesemps)! Just give them the link to this page and instead of seeing this message, they'll see a nice signup page.

Is my link correct?

So, will the link remain active after this week even though the "drive" will be over?

Well, I resorted to by phone, registering my friend on my laptop instead since her IPad kept showing the member message for that sign-up link from my profile. Don't know why she couldn't get the sign up screen so to make the deadline I registered her in. Hope that was OK...whatever it takes to get 10 acorns, Oh brother!

Yes, the link is correct and it will continue to work even after the drive is over. And you'll always get a 10 acorn bonus for referrals. Thumbs up

Great! I just asked all the members of our garden club to join! I hope at least a couple actually do join.
