For our next article I'm going to give some history on ATP from a number point of view. I'm going to make some nice charts and graphs of our growth, showing the posts, threads, images in the database, plants, lists, etc. But there's a lot of stuff on facebook and I'm not sure what is really interesting.

So assuming that I can count anything on ATP, is there any particular data points that you are all interested in seeing? I'll be spending a lot of time tomorrow putting this together so don't be shy asking for what you think would be interesting to know.

Nope. Cannot think of any data that would be interesting. Sounds like a yawner, but maybe you'll surprise me. I like all the how-to info about the site.

Hurray! I have one:
Time it takes to get a positive ID on the Plant ID forum.
Three ways:
- fastest ID ever (sometimes followed by a head-slap for which we have no emoticon).
- longest time or most posts to finally get a positive ID.
- average time or posts to get positive ID.

Having websites myself, I am always looking at page views, visits, and unique visits so that would be interesting to me. My wildflower website is very seasonal with the vast majority between March and May, then a small spike in visits around October. I would be interested in how the seasons affect the numbers here at ATP. Also I would think each individual forum would have their own seasonal peaks and valleys.

Best time of day to post a question in Ask A Question; what time of day (allowing for time zones, etc.) is ATP most populated with active posters available to answer questions.

I would be interested in a tally of who did the most to the least of anything, such as:
Most questions started
Most pictures (by type)
Most getting thrown into the sandbox
Most threads started
Most questions they were nice enough to answer for other members
Most people in each state
Most people in a country
Most people in each forum
Most requests asked of dave (try and figure that!)
Etc

Those all sound good. How about "longest thread by forum"?

Since I saw the graph showing how many new members there are (which I love, btw), I was wondering how many active members there are. Is there a length of time that determines when a member becomes inactive, even though they would still retain membership until they remove their profile?

Thanks for all you and Trish do to make ATP the best!

I'd be interested in member stats regarding how many in each US state and Canadian province, and world countries.

Not interested in anything that singles out individual members, good or bad. In my opinion, this shouldn't promote who's the best or the worst, even if it is in fun. Camaraderie, inclusiveness and background information for the purpose of better communication would be my aim.

How many entries in the database that need information filled out, or have no photos?
Per genus, how many photos entered in the database?

I agree valleylynn, Acorn Acorn Acorn Acorn Thumbs up That type of statistic would invite positive action and the members, established and newbies, would see an opportunity to contribute to make ATP even better than it already is.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! The article is now done and will be up on the homepage in 40 minutes from now.

I covered most but not all the requests here.
