You never know the scientists, etc....who are waiting for this question. What professional or profession would be able to determine the aloys or make up of a large garden statue? Example: Bronze, brass, or other alloys.
Why do I ask this question? I need to find out how best to preserve the piece so it may bring beauty to its next life after me! LOL.

Looking for the real, not guessing, expert in this field. Hope you can help!

Total guess that the birds are bronze; I think a patina of age will only make it more beautiful.

I would suggest that there is probably an artist's mark or signature on the piece. Barring that, a manufacturer's mark. At the least, the retailer should know where it came from and should be able to answer your questions.

There is no way to guess the specific metals and it could even be a mix of alloys. Some of it looks like a copper alloy. Even aluminum can be anodized, producing different colorations. I have a feeling it is not a bronze. I have some of those, and mine are not anywhere near this size, and mine weigh around 50 lb. IF this were a bronze sculpture, it would be very expensive - VERY and would literally weigh a ton. My sculptures are only 18-20" tall and 12-18" wide.

What is the size? Do you know (approximately) how heavy it is? What's the diameter of the base? That's important, because this sculpture would be very top-heavy if it was fabricated with any kind of a heavy metal (bronze for example). Therefore, it would need a huge and heavy base to be stable.

It's absolutely gorgeous, but I agree with everyone above, you'd need to ask the artist to be absolutely sure. A scientist would need samples of the metals to test, to determine the exact alloys.

The artist will also be able to tell you how to take care of it. You could potentially damage it if you treat or seal it with something that prevents the natural oxidation that gives it the nice blue colors. If it was made to be outdoors, it's most likely meant to oxidize naturally.
