@gingin Seems like we have the same camellia. Do you know the name of the variety?

Same here for me, Ginger. My brother planted about 12 different ones when he built the house but I have no clue as to what they are. I just enjoy them!

There isn't a listing at this site, and there's some controversy about the name, but I'm reasonably sure this is 'Purple Dawn'. Which is very similar to or the same as what is sold in the US as 'Mathotiana'.

I think the American Camellia Society still considers 'Purple Dawn' and 'Mathotiana' to be synonyms for 'Julia Drayton', but for reasons I won't bore you with, I doubt the real 'Julia Drayton' still exists.

Looking at the links it does look very much like Purple Dawn
