Whenever I give a talk to a garden club or group of master gardeners, I always make sure to spend a few minutes talking about one of my favorite plants, chickweed. Every person needs to know about this useful (and deliciously edible) plant.
Name: greene Savannah, GA (Sunset 28) (Zone 8b) I have no use for internet bullies!
How do we know which Chickweed types are the best tasting?
There are a whole lot of these listed in the database. Is it only the Stellaria media pictured in your article that is edible?

I think I just saw the other weed in your first photo in the article. It is almost vine like and sticky. Not the same as your chickweed showing to the front of the photo.
I went back and looked again at the photo and saw the difference in leaves and stem. Sorry about the confusion.
Love chickweed, but haven't gotten around to looking for it due to bad weather and being busy with other things. But now that the weekend looks good, I think I'll try to look out by the creek!

We have so many weeds (every weed known to man!) here in my area of SC. Lots of small, low, with tiny white flowers. I can't id chickweed. Would love to try it.
Well, I did find some, but the feral hogs have been rooting so much out there that they probably destroyed many more.

Look for the 10 little white petals and unusual flower buds. If in doubt, take a photo of what you have and post it to our plant ID forum and we'll be very glad to help you figure out what you've got.
