I also use an assortment of twigs and wire decorations - like candle holders and such - in the cages so the caterpillars will have something to climb up on and pupate. Here's a wire basket I inverted and set inside the aquarium.

Had a lot of white to pink Queen chrysalids one year - as can be seen in this photo.

Great assortment of cages and other supplies you used, thank you for posting them.

I remember now in hine sight the thread about raising the moths in the rept. cages on DG. Didn't remember it this weekend when I had a Polyphemus Moth female and eggs on my deck. Maybe I will get to have another chance.

Thanks ya'll. Am glad to help!!! The world needs more butterflies and more larval host plants!!! :o)

This Red Admiral eclosed yesterday but I got home too late to release it. So I went outside this morning to turn it loose. The weather was still a bit cool but I dripped a little bit of nectar (from the hummingbird feeder) onto my finger and stuck my hand into the cage. It quickly climbed on and started feeding. Poor little bugger was hungry!!!

I let it feed and kept added more drops of nectar for about an hour. Spent my time taking various photos of it before setting it down on a bench with a cotton boll soaked in nectar and leaving it to fly off on it's own.
