Marilyn ~ I am SO happy that you are making progress. I hope that each day brings you less pain.

The other day, there were a few iris stalks in bud, but after the snow yesterday I don't know how well the blooms will open.

We ended up with a couple of inches on the ground, but it is now melting in the sunshine.

Beautiful shot, Evelyn, and maybe your irises will weather the weather as well as Tom's!

Thanks for your concern, but I'm not really in any pain... more like discomfort, especially when doing the exercises. (And of course I am frustrated as all heck, being unable to do things. ) The hospital kicked me out with a prescription for Tramadol, but I didn't even use it the last day I was in the hospital, nor since, just the 8-hr arthritis Tylenol. (I checked with the wrist doc here and he says I can now use ibuprofen again if I need it for my knees.)

(I say the hospital "kicked me out" because originally they told me I would be in there for like 3-4 days post surgery, but they let me go late the next day. Some patient advocate or other came by to make sure that I wasn't leaving before *I* felt ready, told me I had the right to appeal and refuse to leave, yada yada. But of course I wanted to get out of there!)

I'm with you on staying in the hospital. I never get any sleep in there.

Evelyn, no, our son lives in Ohio, so he's basically unable to give me anything but morale support over the phone. It's difficult.

THIS hospital actually wasn't too bad in that regard (but I know from experience what you mean). They turned down/off the lights (mostly) and shut the door (I had a migraine going and they respected my request) so it was peaceful (no roommate), I DIDN'T have that blood pressure cuff on continuously (iirc they checked it late at night then before breakfast) so I slept as well as I could, under the circumstances.

(I'm sure the Tramadol helped. And I *was* all gadgeted up for a heart monitor or whatever, so it's not as though they weren't keeping half an eye on me, out at the nurse's station, but that didn't bother me.)

Marilyn ~ That's wonderful that you got out of the hospital early!

Oh Daisy, prayers up for you. That sounds so scary, and I hope you are able to kick for many many more years.

Also sad news about the passing of Shirley from Tijiara. I don't have any Tijara Irises, but they certainly produced some nice hybrids.

It's sad when we lose the ones who create our lovely irises. Tijara Hidden Agenda sure is a beauty, you're lucky to have it.

I didn't know Shirley but I liked her as a supplier. I got great service from her. When I ordered Hidden Agenda, she was low on stock. She said that if I ordered 2 irises, she would give me a small piece of Hidden Agenda as a gift. She gifted me 2 medium rhizomes and a small one in the end.

I am looking forward to seeing both of her irises bloom. Tijara Hidden Agenda may bloom this year. Tijara Team Spirit should bloom next year.

Sorry to hear of this passing. I am sure she was an amazing lady.

Just a reminder to be careful. My idiot self managed to miss a step on my front porch going to look at solar spectacularities.

I stumbled and gained speed just to hit the tailgate of my truck with my wrist and belly. I am keeping an eye on my belly, a small hole was pricked and my wrist is totally bruised.

I am surprised I did not break something. Yay for youngness

Monty, please go get a tetanus booster if it has been over 10 years since your last one. Tetanus is a nasty way to die. While doing my family tree, I came across the fact that one of my relatives had died of it. It's so preventable, but not very treatable. Puncture wounds are at greatest risk.
