Here is a very good site to get the basic idea and projects for your clay.
I have used it quite a few times.

Let's make a Dragonfly Stake. Need a small amount of clay. I use Sculpyiii or Premo. I love to use contrasting colors ,so for this little fellow I used a light orange and a dark orange with green higlights. The stick is a popsickle stic. So this is sort of a small stake. I cover the stick in a very thin sheet of clay which I have concitioned to make more flexible
I put a sculpy polymer glue onto stick to make clay stick, on both sides.
You want to make sure the stick is completely covered in the clay, No airholes. We don't water to fo in and weaken the stick. There is a lot of work but You can do it. Make sure the side seams are smooth.
Then we create the little Dragonfly body.
come in three parts , the head , the body and the tail. You form all these by rolling and shaping til you are happy with shape.
Now we want to give this little faciful fella arms with fingers.
Roll two little clay pieces same size for arms. Take a craft knife and make little fingers, then you have to form the little toes so they will look very much like these
Press these little arms on underside of dragon body.
Wings are next
I've run the clay thru the pasta machine and made it right thickness for wings. We don't want them to break.
Then we got to decide which shape we want.
I cut out four little ovals Made a contrasting band for the wings. Then fastened the wings to the DF.
Now we put glue onto the DF back and stick on wings.
Put glue on the stick and press on DF and arrange his Tail to look the way you want.
I forgot to sign and date these but I usually do that before I put them in the oven.
Now we bake him.
I put in two so I set oven to 275 degrees for 30 min.
Next step is bake and spray him with a clear acrylic spray.
