I just uploaded a photo of Mexican Evening Primrose (Oenothera speciosa 'Rosea') and noticed that there is a listing for Pink Evening Primrose (Oenothera speciosa). Are these the same plant?

I was told that my plant was Mexican Evening Primrose when a friend gave it to me, but if the two listings are different, I just wondered if maybe I submitted my picture to the wrong name.

Thanks!

They are two different plants. Oenothera speciosa in the "natural" wild variety, and Oenothera speciosa 'Rosea' is a man made cultivar of the wild variety.

If you don't know for certain that your plants are of the cultivar 'Rosea', it would be most appropriate to move the image to the Pink Evening Primrose (Oenothera speciosa) entry.

I'd be surprised if anyone could positively distinguish 'Rosea' from the straight species, just based on a picture.
