The first three things that popped into my head when thinking Daylilies and the letter "C" were....

Color....

Cristate, a subform of Sculpted

and my garden companion and helper Cyrus.

Thumb of 2015-02-04/Char/d70562

He finds my gloves when I misplace them, digs planting holes when asked - In the fall a few years ago I injured my shoulder and couldn't dig holes to move keeper sdlgs, he dug all 75 holes in neat rows for me. He picks apples for my horse...

Just don't expect him to help with the weeding..... Smiling

Charmaine I think Cyrus looks pooped after all that work and had to take a sunny nap before weeding. It was just his rotten luck that you finished it all up while he was resting !

Cost will have to be my "C" word, the cost of daylilies can be extremely low (just made up a list of three dollar double fans) or it can be very high (over 200 dollars) I did not make up a list of those. So almost everyone can afford to have a beautiful selection of daylilies.
Some of my $3.00 daylilies on the list.

Lyle, that photo of CURLS GONE WILD should go into the database. That's where it sent me and it wasn't there. That looks like a rosy orange color - or a blend of orange and rose. Is that right? I'll have to decide whether to put that one on the wish list or not.

Hilarious! Just having Cy out there with me while I do the weeding makes the job not so bad... even if he does sleep through it.

Hilary, have you thought about registering your seedling? It is really pretty!

Cost is a good one! There are so many great daylilies for the garden, and hybridizing, that can be found for under $25.00.

What about Clumps...big, beautiful and loaded with blooms that take your breath away ...

Yes definitely clumps,I have just spent a lot of time making up my clump list.I do love clumps.I think I ended up with 25 on my want list under clumping daylilies, not sure how accurate it is but it was about the best I could do, I tried to pick rust resistant and non dormant ones for this area.

LOL, Char! LOVING CYRUS! Lovey dubby (Hey, that'd be a *great* name for a daylily!)

Here is my garden Companion, Warp. The first picture is from a local county park; the second picture was taken in our "Back 40", showing him in pursuit of gophers. (He has never caught any of *our* gophers, though he has caught 4 (thus far) at our pet sitter's home (she loves him!).)

I can't really call him a garden helper... he has a high prey drive and flattens or tears apart many plants here in his insanely driven pursuit of critters. Glare But despite that, it is still rather nice (when I am not yelling "NO!" at him, or searching for him to make sure he hasn't found some new escape route) to have his company. I guess you could say that he is a good plant divider (last year he "divided" an overgrown clump of 'Beautiful Edgings'), but as he is also capable of digging, it would be neat to see if I could teach him to dig planting holes on command. Rolling on the floor laughing

Let's hear it for our garden Companions!
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

Char, yes I may register the seedling. These were maiden blooms so I will watch it this year to see how it performs.

I really miss my garden companion our second sheltie, he would want to be so close to me even trying to get on my garden kneeler with me that silly boy. Whistling Our first sheltie one day decided to play attack the garden hose when I was pulling it into the garden of course I had to laugh after that he did it all the time. Maybe someday we will get another sheltie they are so sweet when they are not barking at which they excel. Lovey dubby

Love the suggestion for a name! I do have a near white with deep black eye that is waiting patiently to be registered....
Warp is a cutie!...I'm so glad Cy doesn't have a high prey drive. With his size it wouldn't be a plant dug here or a scape broken there. Bulldozer... coming through... Hilarious!
I can just see a sheltie trying to get on the knee pad with you. Sweet dogs, we still have one, Ariel. she's 15 now. The garden is named for her mother.
