Who here on the Forum has started Rhubarb from seeds. I've started about 50 plants. I was wondering what types of trouble I might get into since this is my first try. Thanks Roy Thank You!

Welcome! Roy, that's a lot of rhubarb. How far along are your seedlings?

I can't really answer your question because this is actually my first year starting rhubarb from seed as well so I have no idea what to expect, except waiting a few years to be able to harvest!

Where are you located? I am in zone 8b ( or 8a), I can never remember, so growing rhubarb is going to be a challenge, but i am determined to find a way!

Aha, you should have good luck with it there! I only started a few seeds about a month ago. I got five that made it to transplant stage. Maybe i'll plant some more seeds tomorrow too.

If I think of it, I'll take some pictures of my seedlings tomorrow and post for you to see. They are still very small. I moved them to the greenhouse after potting up.

Maybe someone with more experience will see this thread and let us both know what to expect,

Roy, welcome to All Things Plants!

I've started rhubarb from seed, both many years ago and 2 years ago; the ones I started 2 years ago were very slow to sprout and were so tiny yet (and still in their pots) at the end of the growing season that I ended up tossing the few that had sprouted onto the compost pile. The following spring about 4 of the plants were sprouting in the compost, so I potted them up for a while, then planted them into the garden later on. Once it gets going there doesn't seem to be any stopping it... and 4 plants are plenty for me, I honestly don't even like it all that well Rolling my eyes.
