DL 'Check Me Out' is suppose to be yellow with a tangerine eye and edge. The pics in the database are from 2 different sources and show a black and red or orange flower.

Link to the database: Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Check Me Out')

Link to the yellow/ orange pic: http://www.google.com/imgres?i...

I know that colors can vary, but I've never seen a yellow/orange flower flip to a red/black. Thoughts? Confused

That is way too much of a difference. One pic is obviously wrong. Check on AHS website and see if they have a pic and description for comparison.

That's weird... Hadn't checked with AHS before but there isn't a pic there. --I know on the LA the sellers are using the second link for it though so I thought that was the official photo.

Seedfork -- Big Grin I've been trying to figure out this plant for a week before finally putting up a thread on it. --Wasn't sure if the differences could be tied to growing conditions, or if someone got a mislabeled plant.

The photos on the database look like DARK DESIRE.

In fact...on further digging:

Both of those come from Patrick Guidry. I wonder if Pete Harry sent out the wrong plant??

I agree, someone sent out the wrong plant, just to many have the same plant with the wrong name.

It's a wonder that doesn't happen more often than it does. Between digging, cleaning, sorting for packaging and all that goes into it, making a mistake is all too easy. After all one trimmed daylily fan looks pretty much like any other. Over the years I've learned to at least try to give a plant another look when it blooms and compare it to how it is supposed to appear. Sometimes the excitement of seeing a new bloom has caused me to share a photo with an incorrect name before it was checked against an official description. It's hard to undo that sharing once it gets out of reach on the net. I think that might be even more difficult for daylilies since they have the reputation for giving different appearances due to weather. So far I haven't seen much of that, but I don't have too many growing either.

So it looks like someone either got a mislabeled plant or they might have ordered both and got the labels crossed up?

The two photos in the database of CHECK ME OUT are from two different growers. One photo is courtesy of Patrick Guidry (the moderators have permission to add his photos), the other from Michele (@Tink3472) which makes me think it was a shipping error.
