Any help identifing this iris? Bought it 3 years ago and it just bloomed for the first time last night. In Southwest Florida. Not sure I even knew the name when I bought it.

Thanks!

Maybe Neomarica caerulea? Could be "Regina":

This iris has been in my yard for 30 years (when I bought the house) and I've never known what it is. It looks very much like At Dawning at the Pickle Barrel site, but not at another site. Are the standards too dark ? Can anyone identify it for me ?

Welcome! Lawhitesell

According to the iris database, At Dawning looks like this:
Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'At Dawning')

So I don't think that is what you've got. Also, your iris looks newer than 1933 imho.

I hope someone will recognise it. Crossing Fingers!

Welcome! Welcome!

Take a look at Impressionist, see what you think. Fits the time range, too.

lovemyhouse said:Ann, here is part of why it is difficult to ID from photographs. These photos are all of the same plant, same location, but different years. Looks like different plants.

I was thinking Cherry Blossom Song, but it wouldn't be old enough..

Please help identify this iris. A few years ago I found a small rhizome plant growing on a rotting log in an abandoned lot an transplanted it to my garden. Incredibly resilient and prolific plant. Blooms in early to mid May in Georgia. I think it is the Louisiana iris black gamecock.

Welcome! Welcome!

The only way to be sure is to grow a known named rhizome for comparison. But, that said, it looks like Black Gamecock to me, too. Big Grin
