I love snowdrops, Lucy, and did not see mine bloom this spring. Hmmmmm, wonder if some critter ate them.

I planted 150 snowdrops in the berm one year. They bloomed and disappeared. Not one came back. Blinking Confused

It was so sad, I never planted another.

I was greeted by this a few minutes ago. A strawberry bloom!

150 snowdrop bulbs and not a one came back!!! Celia, that would have been a major disappointment! All that work and then all the expectation of bloom and none of it realized.

I was very confused. They made it through the first winter and then...nada.

Do you know if critters like to eat them? If so I may have to only plant a few and team them up with daffodils. Nothing touches my other bulbs that are snuggled up against daffodils. There is some varmint here that is burrowing under plants into the earth and uprooting them completely. I found an iris I was looking forward to seeing bloom just dug up and sat nicely aside the place where it was growing. Guess it will not bloom this year.

Talked to my daughter today, and she was "bummed" about her spring bulbs....she planted over 1000 crocus last fall.....and only had (she estimated0 about 100 bloom.....but she has several REAL, FAT SQUIRRELS in the neighborhood ! She said when the snow melted, she had "holes in the ground, and husks" left beside them.

Boy, Arlyn, those squirrels were vigorous hunters. I wish it were possible to harness the little busters and train them to plant bulbs instead of dig them up.

Yeah! Thumbs up

With mine, I never saw any evidence of digging so I don't know what happened. Do grubs eat them?

Moles and voles may move them. I had a patch of crocus that quit blooming, but then the blooms started popping up all over the yard. The bulbs definitely got moved, but I don't think it was squirrels as there was no digging. I vote voles.

I keep forgetting to post pics here because I'm going daffy for Daffodils and gave them a thread:
